Global Merchant Outage
Upgrade Your Terminal to Prevent Payment Processing Issues
As you know, Global Payments, who handles certain aspects of your payment processing, has been preparing to move to a new Certificate Authority (CA). The CA plays a critical role in payment processing and secures debit and credit card transactions.
Global completed the first phases of this process in August and September. On October 28, Global will permanently remove the old certificate.
If you have not upgraded your terminal, you will most likely experience processing issues or a permanent outage.
To minimize any disruption to your business, we recommend that you either upgrade your terminal to a PAX A80 smart terminal or change your terminal’s connectivity type.

Interim Solution: Process Via Dial Up
If you need an interim solution before your new device arrives or you do not plan to upgrade at this time, there is a work around that should allow you to continue processing transactions during the outage periods. If you have access to an analog phone line, you can change your terminal’s connectivity type to dial up by following these steps.
- Press the “#” key
- Select “Setup”
- Choose “Communications”
- Select “CommsPriority”
- Key in one of the following: 210 = IP w/Dial Backup; 200 = IP Only; 120 = Dial w/IP Backup & 100 = Dial Only
